BUCS 10000m race result and report by Tom Halloway

Race Date: Saturday 27th April 2018

25 Laps for the second time this year, I would highly recommend both track running and 10,000m on the track for any striders wanting to try something different.

The entry standard was sub 35.30.Having only ran 34.20 and 34.40 this year it was going to be a tough race. There was 18 other runners in the field from all universities.  I was representing Sheffield Hallam University in the BUCS A final.

I went into the final the slowest in the field and it turned out to be a tough race.

It soon went by pacing the mile spits; 4,56,5.08, 5.32 (16.09 5k) 5.31,5.44.5,44 35.00.12 for 10k. Tough day at the office finishing in last place and hard to take after running a solid race. Two weeks out due to injury didn’t help but moving forward I have the night of 10,000m PBS in Highgate, a few 1500m and 800m races whereby I will be chasing the club track records and finish with 3000m/5000m to end the track season.

The winner was Toby Cook of Birmingham University in 30.13.67.
