Race Date: 14th January 2018
This was the postponed race that was supposed to happen in December, but a snowy weekend lead to cancellation. Luckily this time round, the weather was perfect – cold, but not too cold.
Not much information about the race on the website; described simply as: “The course is a fast potential PB course. The race is normally over subscribed before race day with a limit of 1000. Race HQ is The Bolsover School and the start is just outside the school on Mooracre Lane with the finish within the school grounds“.
The course is a fairly straightforward circular route, flat-ish, with a couple of nice views and a well organised set-up. The free shirt was a good one, with a Striders poster boy from last year featuring on the photo design.
Matt Bickerstaff of Heanor RC won the race in 0:31:57, first lady home was Michelle Willcocks of Sutton in Ashfield Harriers & AC in 0:37:45. 672 runners ran the race, 20 of whom were Striders. Well done to all, some fast times were achieved!
