Abbey Dash is exactly that, a short dash out to Roche Abbey and a turn back before a sting in the tail takes you quickly up and out onto the fields overlooking Maltby Church.  It comes in just under the five mile mark and shares the first couple of miles with its sister event, May’s Maltby Memorial, although that race continues out through the woods and field beyond the abbey, rather than using it as a turning point.

Good weather and another of Maltby Running Club’s remarkably generous post-race spreads brought out 143 runners on the night.  The race was won by Darren King of Clowne in 0:27’48.32.  Our own Jennifer Rich was first lady in 0:30’49.16, leading home a Striders’ sextet.
