Race Date: Sunday 21st May 2017
Organised by Dark and White Events, sole Strider Valeria Gasparini described this event something like this:
“It starts at Ashbourne Leisure Centre and goes up a river valley (Dovedale) for kilometre after kilometre. The sides of the valley were very steep which could only mean one thing, it was going to be steep when we eventually had climb out and it was. We then ran back down an old railway line (Tissington Trail) which was very boring.” Sounds easy but total distance was nearly 16 miles with 390m of ascent.
Nevertheless Val, sporting her Striders’ vest for the first time, was third lady (22nd overall). Winner was Ian Benskin (Shepshed) in 1:58:03 whilst first lady was Isa Sinfield (U/A) in 2:09:56.
