Race Date: Saturday 29th April 2017
Starting at Deadwater, the source of the River North Tyne close to the Scottish Border, the route passes alongside the imposing Kielder reservoir and down through the beautiful valley to the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ at Warden, which is also the finish for the 75km challenge. Departing Warden, the route continues towards the industrial heritage of Tyneside and the ultra race finish in front of the historic Tynemouth Watch House Museum, a total distance of 150km (93 miles).
Ultra aficionado Nicole Brown chose to run the 75km version and finished an extremely creditable 8th lady in a time of 11.09 hours. There were 45 starters for the 75 km version with 40 finishers. The race was won by Michael Butters in 7.11.16. The first woman home was Naomi Philbrick in 8.57.19.
