A running and walking event from the Paper Mill, (next to the Old Hall), Whitehough, Chinley. The event takes in the summits of South Head, Chinley Churn (Big Stone which is close) and Eccles Pike with the participants choosing the best route between them based on the map provided. Approximate distance 9.5 miles depending on which route you choose.
Brief report for Naomi Rabin:
Really great event, and Mir even won a spot prize for being the quickest person not from Yorkshire. The route is a self navigated route taking you over South Head, Chinley Churn and Eccles Pike (I’d never heard of them, but the route we took was a beautiful one). Not the quickest participants, but we did have to stop to take selfies every so often.
Was great value for money too (included a meal option), and really friendly organisers – hope more Striders can venture to t’other side of peaks next year !
The race was won by Paul King (unattached) in 1.11.43. The first woman home was Diane Bygrave of Wilmslow RC in 1.36.28. Altogethr there were 107 participants.
