The 2017/18 cross country season got underway at Longley Park in Sheffield with 38 striders running. Warm dry weather and a distinct lack of mud made for conditions not usually associated with cross country.

The “Under 20, Senior and Veterans Ladies” completed a 5k course and the race was won by Ellen Downs from the University of Sheffield in a time of 21:34. In the “Under 20, Senior and Veteran Men – U65” race the honours were taken by Dom Brown from the University of Sheffield over a 8k course in a time of 27:17. The “Veteran Men 65+” competed over a 5k course with Robert Tintinger from Rotherham Harriers coming home first in a time of 24:58.
