Race Date: 1st October 2017
The Redcar Half Marathon is organised by the New Marske Harriers and is in its 35th year. It has a potentially fast course given the right conditions. Given everything i’ve read about the race in preparing the results it seems as simple as ‘good weather = good time’, ‘bad weather = bad time’.
Starting near the seafront at Redcar, runners run towards the town for 2 miles or so, then back up to the coast and 6 miles along the coast towards Marske, finishing the race back in Redcar at the Leisure Centre
The race was won by Dean Newton of New Marske Harriers in 1.11.06 with first lady home Alyson Dixon of Sunderland Strollers a creditable 10th overall in 1.17.27.
926 Runners took part in the race, with a solo Strider Ste Smith retreading the streets of his youth. It obviously suits him as he broke the 90 minute mark for the first time (attributed to a combination of his hard work, and joining the Green & Gold Army)
Pos | Name | Cat | Time |
