The Run Britain description of this race says it all, really:
“Half Marathon on multi terrain trails, footpaths, beach and road. The Northumberland Coastal Run is one of the most spectacular races in Britain. Starting at Beadnell, the route takes you through fishing villages, along the beach and in the shaddow [sic!] of Dunstanborough Castle before finishing in Alnmouth. The actual distance varies from year to year depending on tides but usually about 13.5 miles.”
The race is well organised by the Alnwick Harriers
990 runners braved the weather with Ian Harding of Morpeth Harriers & AC tape busting in just 1:12. Jane Hodgson again of Morpeth Harriers & AC, was first woman home in 1:25.
