Lantern Pike 2017 Result

Race date:  Saturday 16th September 2017

Well organised by Jim Trueman this fell run covers just under 5 miles, near Hayfield (think west of Kinder Scout).  That isn’t the half of it.  The race includes 1073 feet (or 327 metres in new money) of ascent and 1,105 feet (336 metres) of descent.  According to the Windows 10 calculator, that’s up 4.3 and down 4.43 … jumbo jets.

Simon Bailey of Mercia FR jetted home in first place with a very short time of 32:31; Lauren McNeil (Buxton & District AC) was the first woman home in an equally impressive 38:19.

147 runners took part, with our own Michael Slater putting in a good result, about a fuselage behind Simon.  Great effort!
