Swim
This special 3.8 kilometre course consists of swimming one loop in the Maas river. You will start surrounded by an audience of cheering fans lining the banks and surrounding bridges. First, you will swim 1.9 kilometres past the stunning cultural-historic centre of Maastricht, under a Roman bridge, and towards the provincial government building (the Gouvernement). Here you will find an ‘Australian exit,’ where all athletes have to exit and re-enter the water, encouraged by fans, and swim with the current back to the start.
Bike
This 178 kilometre cycling course consists of two 89 kilometre laps through Maastricht and the surrounding Limburg landscape. You will compete in a cycling paradise that has hosted such notable classics as the cycling world championships, the Amstel Gold Race, the Tour de France, and La Vuelta. This beautifully scenic and slightly technical trail runs through the iconic hills and mountains of Bemelerberg (Eijsden-Margraten), Geulhemmerberg (Valkenburg), and Hallembaye (Bassenge). Here, your fans can find the perfect spot to cheer you on! There are approximately 1,100 metres of elevation on the course and five aid stations.
The 42.2 kilometre running course is a four-loop course of 10.5 kilometres, each through the city of Maastricht. Consisting of approximately 280 metres of elevation and seven aid stations, the course runs straight through the cultural-historic city centre, part of which along the Maas river. You will pass several stunning squares in Maastricht, with plenty of fans to cheer you on. You will also pass the small castle owned by world-famous violinist André Rieu.
