Race Date: Sunday 19th March 2017
The Banbury 15 takes place close to Banbury Cross in rural Oxfordshire among ‘picturesque undulations’ as the Banbury Harriers website elegantly puts it.
282 runners enjoyed the spring weather conditions, Ollie Garrod of Epsom and Ewell taking most advantage coming in first in a time of 1:24:35. Hayley Munn (Northampton Road Runners) was first lady home in 1:36:06.
Among the 282 was one solitary Strider, but not just any ordinary strider. Graham Hague, on a mission to break every MV60 club record, had earmarked Banbury as his chance to write his name next to the 15 mile distance in the record book. No current record stood, however this did not deter Graham from putting in a very strong performance to post a time of 1:58:28 for the race. Incredible.
Congratulations Graham on your latest record, marathon record to fall next in York?
