Race Date: Saturday 30th July 2016
Renowned as a hard race and sold as so….
The route is hard. A slog up, some paths, many bogs, lots of moor, slippery descents and the infamous bottomless bog before the stream. It caught me again this year, up to my waste. After that it was commando-style stream crossing, holding on to a fence as you edge sideways through the gushing waters. The final climb is tough and wet, while the descent is a good long one you can blast. The big wall at the end provided a challenge.
8 miles and 2001 feet of ascent. Andy Davies obviously didn’t have enough of this last year as he went back for more this and came away with a great 10th place, improving on last year’s time by over 2 minutes. Well done Andy. The race was won by Marcus Preedy of Rossendale Harriers in 1.11.19. The first woman home was Helen Leigh of Blackburn Harriers in 1.20.12
