Race Date: Sunday 26th June 2016
Organised by Thame Runners, the Thame 10K has been run since 1985 and has grown to be one of the key sporting fixtures in Thame, with 1000 runners pounding a course through the town centre to Towersey and back along the Phoenix Trail.
The course is mostly flat with road closures, so no traffic to deal with. According to the organisers, the waterlogged area just 50 metres after the start certainly caught a few people by surprise, prompting some runners to shout out that it was ‘just like running cross-country’… At least the weather behaved itself on the day!
801 people took part in the race, including two Striders. A special mention to Jon Taylor, who achieved a new PB at the race. Well done Jon!
The race was won by Paul Fernandez from Abingdon AC in a time of 33.36, and the first lady was Jessica Webb of Woodstock Harriers AC, finishing in 36.29.
