Race Dates: Sunday 22nd May 2016
The Snowdonia Slateman Triathlon, near Llanberis in Wales. A swim surrounded with mountains, a bike course in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park and a run through a slate quarry. The race offers a unique mix of incredible scenery and challenge with a carnival atmosphere. There are 4 triathlon events of varying lengths over the weekend, but there are 2 of interest to us for Strider news:
- Slateman full, which is a 1000m lake swim, 51km road cycle and 11km trail run
- Slateman Sprint, which is a 400m lake swim, 20km road cycle and 6km trail run
The winner of the full event was Garry Hughes (Unattached), with a combined chip time of 2:29:51. The winning lady was Suzie Richards of Leeds Bradford Club in a combined time of 2:43:07. 821 athletes finished the event, including 2 intrepid Striders…
