Race Date: Thursday 21st July 2016
Sheldon, seems to be a place to go to for a reason. I can’t remember ever driving through it and I can’t see a reason why I would. However, there was a fell race to run so off to Sheldon we went. A nice village with what looks like a nice pub – the fell race starts and finished directly outside it – sadly, no time at the end to frequent it.
Anyway, a short 4 mile race, with 531 feet of climb in it, starts and finishes downhill. A mad dash down the road, through the fields to the river. A gentle climb up the river through the woods, then a ridiculously steep hill to walk/clamber up, through the fields back to the car park then down to the finish line.
A very enjoyable race that I would highly recommend. This year there were 216 runners including 10 Striders – well done to all Striders. The race was won by Jack Ross of Staffordshire Moorlands in 23.54. The first woman home was Steph Curtis of Pennine in 30.13.
