Race Date: 15th October
The Round Rotherham run or to give it its full title, “Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham International Trail Event” is a 50 mile ultra that follows “an undulating route with, overall, 800m of climb through the South Yorkshire Forest (the area designated as The South Yorkshire Forest is mainly rural land rather than a vast area of woodland)”. It is said to be friendly and well-organised with some very scenic stretches (eg. around Roche Abbey – pictured below – and Elsecar woods) to offset the grotty bits! This year, Kevin Hoult of Stadium Runners was first man home in 06:29:50 and first lady home was Karen Nash of the FRA in 8:35:54.
Congratulations to lone strider, Simon Bayliss who finished in joint tenth place overall (runners finishing within eight seconds of each other having been given equal position), and second V50.
