Race Date: Thursday 25th August 2016
Stampeding cows vaulting a dry stone wall at the start, a big herd of spooked cows in the middle and torrential rain towards the end! Pilsley fell race certainly proved to be even more nerve wracking than the organisers intended. It takes place in and around the Chatsworth Estate, and includes 820 feet of ascent over just over 6 miles – a mile or so shorter than last year.
The race winner was Stuart Bond of Dark Peak in 38:28. The winning lady was Helen Elmore (club not listed) in 46:17.
190 runners completed the race, of which 11 were Striders. Well done to everyone, but of special note are James Rose for being first Strider, and Caroline Brock for being first female Strider (& 3rd lady overall). Paul Stuart and I enjoyed a good bit of racing too – all good fun. He would argue the cows were in cahoots with me. They forced him to make a short detour at one point.
Apologies if I’ve missed anyone in the results table – clubs are not listed in the current iteration of the results.
