Race Date Sunday 18th September 2016
They weren’t joking when they named this run. Definitely one that seemed to have more uphill than downhill despite starting and finishing in the same place. Add in a field of cows with calves and we had a proper fell race. The sun was shining bright and it was ludicrously hot for a mid September morning.
Sadly only 84 people showed up for this race but there were many other races on on this particular weekend. The fact that the field was small gave Goldstar a smell of silverware and he was keen to encourage the trio of Striders in attendance to have a bash at the team award. As it was, Penistone turned out in force and won the team trophy hands down.
Anyway, this 6.4 mile race was very enjoyable, 10 minutes after finishing! Not only was there a great race for the fee but also all runners picked up a spot prize, if they hung around long enough for the awards.
The race was won by Andy Swift of Penistone FR in 43.35. The first woman home was Caitlin Rice of Glossopdale Harriers in 50.06. Well done to all 3 Striders in attendance.
