Race Date: Wednesday 15th June 2016

It was sad that the children’s sports evening had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain in the run up to the sports night.

FIngers crossed that the main Gala itself can go ahead this coming Saturday the 25th as its a great little event in Coronation Park.

But as the saying goes, the show must go on and the trail race went ahead regardless.

The Oughtibridge Gala Chase is a short and sharp 3.6 mile course with 500ft of elevation. Straight up Jawbone (cote de Oughtibridge) and up into the woods, then straight back down.

72 runners taking to the slopes for this years race.  Conditions at the start resembled a pleasant summers evening, conditions from halfway through the race onwards turned Oughtibridge into a tropical savanna. Everyone absolutely soaked to the skin.

Joe Sweetnam Powell of Sheffield RC won the race for the second year running in a time of 22:11. First lady home was our very Rio Cooper in 27:45. Although she was hilariously listed as RIA COPPER on the official results. 🙂

Six Striders in total were in action, well done all.  Tough little race.
