Race date: Sunday 13th March 2016.
Thousands of runners have been out on the streets of Liverpool this past weekend for the Vitality Liverpool Half Marathon.
Mild spring weather greeted the 6,500 competitors who took part in the 13.1-mile event, which took them from the waterfront to Sefton Park and back.
The scenic route took runners from the Pier Head and along Upper Parliament Street, around Princes Park and into Sefton Park before heading back along Otterspool Prom alongside the River Mersey to the finish line at Mann Island.
The race was won by Dejene Gezimu of Liverpool Harriers
The 22-year-old Ethiopian athlete, who has a string of other race wins under his belt, recorded a personal best for the half marathon with a time of 01:06:59 – averaging five minutes and seven seconds per mile.
The fastest woman to finish the 13.1-mile course, run in warm sunshine, was Michelle Nolan in a time of 01:20:20 – averaging 6 minutes and eight seconds per mile.
