Race Date: Sunday 8th May 2016
The Holymoorside 10k is organised by the 1st Holymoorside Scout Group as part of their fundraising activities.
It follows a challenging route, with 700 feet of ascent inside the first 5k. The hot weather made those first 5k seem all the more unrelenting. What goes up must come down, so there is then nearly 5k of descent back to Holymoorside before a lap of the village green at the end.
Record numbers entered, with over 350 people running the 10k. There was also a fun run. It would be great to see more Striders enter this race next year. Though the route is more challenging than most 10k races, it is very scenic and the local residents all came out to support, which makes for a great atmosphere. A contender for a Striders Championship race spot I think!
The winner was our very own Phil Skelton, with a time of 37:11. The winning lady was Louise Perrins of Totley AC with a time of 45:29.
