Race report courtesy of Loz Harvey:
Grimsby. Well Great Grimsby actually, is known as Europe’s food town (it says on the sign on the way in). Those Europeans must love their fish and peas. More than 1,500 runners packed the streets outside Grimsby’s town hall tighter than a trawler-man’s net to run the very first Great Grimsby 10k sponsored by Dong Energy. Four Striders were among them, benefiting from a flat course that included Peak’s Parkway, a dual carriageway built over an old railway line, and finished with a fantastic lap of People’s Park. Once there – finishers could see a man get swallowed by a balloon. They do things differently in Grimsby.
1000 runners took part and the race winner was Aaron Scott (unattached) in 30:53, first lady was Natalie Burns (Lincoln Wellington AC) in 36:13
With Loz in Glorious Grimsby were 3 other Striders – well done all
