Race Date: Sunday 25th September 2016
37 cities. 22 countries. 1 race.
The Global Energy Race was a one-of-a-kind running event across 37 cities in 22 countries, part of an official attempt to break the world record for a race taking place in the most cities in one day. The UK’s edition of this global event was located in the beautiful Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield, just a few miles from the New York Bakery Company. For every one kilometre run the New York Bakery Company are to donate 1 bagel to local Trussell Trust foodbanks. This means that if everyone collectively runs 10,000K the New York Bakery Company will donate 10,000 bagels. The registration fees were also donated to the Trussell Trust.
Entrants had the choice of 3K, 5K and 10K distances. 320 people took part in the 10K, including our gang of 4 Striders. Well done to Catherine who was 8th lady and first F45 and to Luis, Sheena and Elaine for achieving new PBs that day!
The race was won by Franco Pardini in a time of 34.59, and the first lady home was Lindsay Skinner in 39.37.
