Race Date: Sunday 20th March 2016
The East Hull 20 is a popular test race for those coming to the end of their Spring marathon training. 20 fairly flat miles for the most part in the countryside near Hull. It’s a well established race put on by East Hull Harriers. 2 Striders records were broken, so read on!
The winner was Michael Hargreaves of East Hull Harriers & AC in 1:51:52. Winning lady was Treena Johnson of Dewsbury Road Runners in 2:10:41.
494 runners took part in the race, of which 9 were Striders. Nick Scott was first Strider to finish, but special mention must go to Barry Gyte for being the V60+ winner. He also broke his V60 20 mile record set last year by a good 10 minutes.
Commiserations to Jennifer Rich on finishing 6th lady, just outside the prizes. She successfully beat her own senior women’s 20 mile record, by about 5 minutes. However, Mary Picksley still holds the overall women’s club record for 20 miles, all of 25 seconds quicker than Jennifer’s finishing time!
