Race Date: Sunday 2nd October 2016
Organised by Doncaster AC, the club presented its fourth running of the Cusworth 10K road race. The route is run on quiet rural roads with start and finish in the grounds of Cusworth Hall. It sounds like a good course to try for a PB as according to reports there’s a bit of undulation, but nothing really challenging except for the incline just before mile 6. The approach to the Hall makes for a great finish, and the grounds are a pleasant place to spend a bit of time walking around with family after the race. Organisation is said to be excellent, with a friendly atmosphere and nice t-shirt to finish with.
418 runners took part this year, including our two Striders Phil and Pete. Well done to both! A special mention to Phil who slept in his car, having only 2.5 hours sleep before the run. The race was won by Lincoln Wellington’s Joe Wilkinson in a time of 32.26, and the first lady home was Sarah McCormack of Ambleside AC in 35.15
