Race Date: Sunday 29th May 2016
425 entries to the hilly Buxton half marathon (total ascent is around 1508ft/460m). There seems to be a difference of opinion regarding this race. John Rawlinson says,
‘I think this might be my new favourite race. A challenging but beautiful route, good organisation and great value. A half marathon with a medal and t shirt for 11 quid? Love it.’
whereas John Walker says,
‘Never again. Too tough for us “old uns”
Well done and kudos indeed to all Striders who took part, especially Phil ‘I’ve only had 90 minutes of sleep’ Howson for his heroic effort to get there and Phil Skelton for a storming 7th place finish. Well done all.
The race was won by Alasdair Campbell of Buxton in 1.17.51. The first woman home was Deborah Thomas of Trentham in 1.31.13.
