Race Date: Sunday 11th December
Despite a clash with the XC, there were plenty of Striders at this year’s Bolsover 10k. The course undulates just a little, but has good PB potential. Conditions were pretty good: not too cold, and a side-wind rather than the usual head-wind on the exposed return leg of the course. The race is run on open roads, so the slightly impatient drivers trying to squeeze past runners were to be expected, but the horse that reared up at and then tried to sit on Andrew Woffindin was a bit of a surprise.
The race was won by Heanor RC’s Matt Bickerstaff in 32:58. The women’s race was won by Jade Stone of Matlock AC in 37:55. There were 795 finishers, including 24 Striders. The first male Strider was Mark Gray; the first female Strider was Jennifer Rich.
There were some strong performances from Striders: Helen Eberlin won the F70 category, establishing a new club record of 52:35. Mark Gray was hoping for faster but still picked up 2nd place in the M45 category with a 37:05. Kevin Sibley (38:16 chip) and Andrew Woffindin (45:56 chip) both ran strongly for PBs.
