Stamford Striders’ St Valentine 30K Race

Race Date: Sunday 14th February 2016

The Stamford Striders’ St Valentine 30K Race is run each year on the Sunday closest to St Valentine’s Day, 14 February. It is recognised nationally as a tough event, providing a good training run for those planning a spring marathon. This was the race’s 23rd year. Starting and finishing at the Queen Eleanor School in Stamford the course winds its way through Little Casterton, Tolethorpe, Ryhall, Careby, Pickworth and Great Casterton on a challenging rural undulating route.

The winner (Not for the first time, either!) was Aaron Scott of Notts AC, who ran the 30k in a time of 01:40:12. First female finisher was Gill Fullen of Bedford Harriers AC, who ran a time of 01:58:12.

There were 599 finishers in all, of which 6 are listed as Striders. Well done all! What a way to spend part of your Valentine’s Day.

Special mention goes to the first Strider finishers. Sian Evans, who ran it in a storming chip time of 2:13:39 and was 8th female over all, and Ed Startup who finished only just behind in 2:13:52.

Also to Pete Brown, who finished an excellent 5th in his age category!

Without further ado, here are the Strider-centric results:
