Race Date: Sunday 26th July 2015
The weather forecast had been grim all week and unfortunately they were spot on. We’d been informed at registration that the kit requirements would be enforced and, given the rain already falling from the heavily laden clouds above, I doubt anyone argued! The course was brutal and the conditions served as a reminder of just how tough things can be near the top of Wales’ highest mountain.
The marathon was won by Stuart Walker in 4:04:04. In the women’s competition, Katie Beecher took first place and fifth overall in 4:28:38, more than 40 minutes clear of her nearest rival.
In the half marathon, Dan Doherty took first in a blistering 1:48:38 and Enid Gruffudd won the women’s race in 2:20:36.
5 Striders braved this event, 3 taking on the marathon and 2 opting for the half marathon. Special mention to Dave Smith for his outstanding 11th overall and 1st MV45 with a time of 4:41:05.
