David Palmer breaks club marathon record (again!)
In 2014 David Palmer finally succeeded in his attempt to break John Kerr’s long-standing Strider’s marathon record when he dipped under the 2hr31m mark in Rotterdam. His new mark stood for less than a year.
Returning to Rotterdam this year, David clocked an incredible 2:28:42, shattering his own record by more two minutes. Not only that, but he was the first V40 over the line in a race reckoned by many to rank equal to most of the marathon majors.
So for the second year in succession, we salute a new PB and new club record from Mr Palmer – very well done indeed.
The only remaining question is: how fast will he go next time? (David’s already said he feels there is more to come).
The men’s race was won by Abera Kuma (Ethiopia) in 2:06:47. First lady was Asami Kato (Japan) in 2:26:30. There were 11,879 finishers.
