Striders fielded five teams (two men and three ladies) at the Cutlers XC Relays in Graves Park. What started as a inter-university competition grew into a South Yorkshire one, with a upswing in participation. In the last few years the event has also been the Northern Athletics Cross Country Relays, meaning the standard of runners has improved dramatically.
The course was a tough 2-mile loop around the sports pitches and past the playground and farm. Even with dry conditions the hills quickly sapped the legs. Men ran 4 legs per team, the women 3 legs.
The senior races were won by Lincoln Wellington AC (women) in 36:02 and Leeds City AC (men) in 41:42
Due to a delay in processing Adam’s EA registration, the Striders male A team were classed as non-counting (but finished in 26th place).
