Race Date: Sunday 4th October 2015

The Mablethorpe full and half marathons take place on the same day from the Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College.
The Race is well supported for the first 2 miles or so but then you are out  of the town centre and onto the country lanes. There isn’t a great deal to take in other than farmers fields and the odd village here and there which didn’t really bother me but I can imagine this could be a bit soul destroying on the 2nd lap when doing the full marathon. After 10 miles you head towards Sutton on Sea and after winding through a couple of streets you join the promenade and some welcome support including some Striders who I think we’re there with Steve, for the final 1.5 miles back to Mablethorpe.
At the finish point back at the College the full marathon runners carry on for the 2nd lap.
If you are after a flat race then this one fits the bill though the main section through the rural parts would be quite tough on a breezy day I’d imagine as it’s very open.
We made a weekend of it and stopped on the Towervans caravan site which was a 2 minute walk from the start line and a further 5 or 10 minute walk to the town centre, so ideally located if with family.
Technical t-shirt and winners medal along with a banana and Mars bar in the HM goody bag.

The Mablethorpe marathon attracted 172 runners, including our very own Steve Haake, who claimed a very admirable 45 place. The marathon was won by Ryan Snell in 2.41.43. The first woman was Kate Mills in 3.03.31.
