Race date: Sunday 16 November 2014
After the deer on the course debacle of the second fixture, normal service was resumed at the third league race. Runners lapped the classic XC course at Campsall Country Park near Askern – a last minute change of venue due to a pesky farmer ploughing up the original course at the Northern Racing College.
The women’s race was won in 24:00 by Steve Cram-coached Laura Weightman, finalist in the 2012 Olympics 1500m, running as a guest – as she did at the Graves Park XC last year. 125 women ran but unfortunately there were no Striders.
175 men contested the men’s race, won by Andrew Heyes (Hallamshire) in 29:51, a minute and a half ahead of second place. 6 Striders ran, so we just scraped in with a full team.

With double points in the final fixture (to make up for the missing Wentworth results) it is crucial Striders get a decent turnout to avoid relegation. Calling all the speed merchants, you club needs you…
